Good leadership makes room for other people to grow
A reflection on creating context, sharing ownership, and helping teams make decisions.
Sample draft — this article is a template awaiting personal examples and editorial review.
A lead cannot be the answer to every question. When every decision has to pass through one person, the team loses time and the opportunity to develop its own judgment.
Share the reasoning
Explain the goal, the constraints, and the tradeoffs behind a decision. Context helps people adapt when circumstances change instead of simply following an instruction.
Create space for ownership
Agree on the outcome and the boundaries, then let someone else choose the path. Offer feedback and support without taking the work back at the first sign of uncertainty.
Make this yours: describe a real coaching conversation or a responsibility you learned to delegate.
